FMCBC 2011 Annual General Meeting

The FMCBC’s 2011 AGM was held on Saturday, June 4th in Surrey.  The AGM was hosted this year by the Valley Outdoor Association who held a great reception for Directors and members on Friday night and made all the arrangements for the location and delicious refreshments during the meeting on Saturday.  Thank you to all those from the VOA who participated in putting on this event and providing all the little extras that made it run smoothly and efficiently for everyone.

Similar to last year, this year’s AGM was broken into two parts with the AGM business and nominations taking place during the morning session and a strategic planning workshop taking place in the afternoon.  It was a very full day, but the majority of people who attended participated in both sessions and in the afternoon provided excellent feedback for FMCBC’s strategic planner, Terje Vold and the Strategic Planning Committee.  Thank you to all those people who participated.

Since then, the Strategic Planning Committee has held a conference call with Terje Vold to give him some further direction and expects to have a draft plan together for distribution to FMCBC Directors by mid July.  The plan will also be made available to FMCBC Member club executives and members so if you are interested in reviewing the plan, talk to your club’s FMCBC Director near the end of July.

During the AGM some changes in the FMCBC Board of Directors Executive took place.  Scott Webster has moved up from his role as Vice President to take on the position of President.  Caroline Clapham from the ACC-Vancouver Section was nominated and accepted the position of Vice President.  Elisa Kreller was nominated and accepted the role of Treasurer and ever faithful Patrick Harrison will continue to hold the position of Secretary. Brian Wood has not left us and will continue to be involved now holding the position of Past President and he has also recently become Co-Chair (with Monika Bittel) of the Southwest BC Recreation and Conservation Committee.

Thank you again to all the Directors who made the trip to Surrey.  The plan for next year is to hold the AGM in Squamish, but we will be looking for volunteers to help with organizing this event since the FMCBC does not have a member club in Squamish.  If you are interested in helping please contact me at admin.manager@mountainclubs.org to find out how to get involved.
