The Chilliwack River Valley Trails Association is an ad hoc group of trail users (both motorized & non-motorized) who is attempting to resolve recreational conflicts in the Chilliwack River Valley. Two current issues this group is dealing with are:
a) A gate has been installed at about 1.5km on the Nesakwatch Creek road. This will make it impossible to drive to the trailheads of both the Mt. Rexford & Slesse Memorial Trails. The gate is currently illegal but will, most likely, be approved & will remain until harvesting is completed. Until proper arrangements are made to obtain a key from the licensee you should contact Brenda Cosgrove of BC Timber Sales in Chilliwack at 604-702-5749 (office) or 604-798-1922 (cell) & ask her for access.
b) The Department of National Defence, some time ago, installed gates blocking Slesse Creek as well as the toe of International Ridge. Negotiations with them have produced an agreement that they will provide a key. However a workable way of doing that has not, so far, been found . . . stay tuned. |
